Pipe and Key is an organ-piano duo from Houston, TX. Pianist Yvonne Chen and organist Yuri McCoy started collaborating in their untraditional arrangement while doctoral students at Rice University in 2014 and are striving to use their talents and passions in achieving 3 goals: bringing symphonic works usually only heard in concert halls to unique community centers and churches, giving new life to under-represented works in the classical repertoire, and showcasing the unique sonic and virtuosic abilities on these two keyboard instruments.
Arrangements include Mozart piano concertos, Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, Ravel’s Rhapsodie espagnole, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
